Viktor Gyökeres feels “at home” after reaching 100 games for Sporting

Swedish international forward Viktor Gyökeres said today that he feels “at home” at Sporting, the club for which he has made 100 official appearances, and aimed to win the national football championship for the second time on Saturday.
“I feel at home. You go out on the pitch and enjoy every minute playing for this club and in front of these fans,” he said in an interview with the club’s television channel.
On Saturday, against Benfica (1-1), Gyökeres reached one hundred matches played with the 'lion' on his chest, in which he scored 95 goals, 43 in the first season and 52 this one, in 50 games in 2023/24 and another 50 in 2024/25.
“It’s a fantastic feeling, it was very quick to reach 100 games, but it’s a big milestone. We still have two games until the end of the season, very important ones”, he highlighted.
On Saturday, at 18:00, the 'green and whites' will take to the field to host Vitória de Guimarães and, to become two-time national champions, they only need to do the same or better than Benfica, who have the same 79 points but a disadvantage in the direct confrontation and play at the same time at Sporting de Braga's home.
A week later, they meet the 'encarnados' in the final of the Portuguese Cup.
“The objective is to win the two remaining games. The focus is on Saturday, on winning, and then the next one,” the Swede summed up.
The leader of the European Golden Boot, which distinguishes the continent's best goalscorer in a sporting season, recalled the “many good memories” he has had with Lisbon, highlighting the “great atmosphere” he always feels at the José Alvalade Stadium.
“It’s easy to use that energy to play at your best. It’s helped us a lot in the games. (...) We see fans practically everywhere. They never stop supporting us. You can feel that they live for the club, for football. It gives us something extra, it motivates us a lot to reach another level”, he commented.
The 26-year-old Swedish international arrived at Sporting from Coventry, England, at the start of 2023/24.
